I’ve been playing with the same guys for twenty years. Then one day discomfort in my hip turned into agonizing pain in a bed at Rhode Island Hospital. It was T-cell lymphoma. Suddenly getting back to tennis was the last thing I was worried about. I must have seen a million doctors from every specialty. Then it was intense treatment followed by rehab at Newport Hospital that started with “Can you move your big toe?” It was a hard, scary ride, but it ended with me on a tennis court, so I’m good.
