warmly, he had won a nice bet on the Cavalier. The breed was not very well
known but after the BIS it became the must have breed. I am sure Aquarius had
his knockers (those who would find fault), but if he had not done it another
Cavalier would have at some other time. After all you are there to win and what
do you do when you win tell the judge you don’t want it thank you. All I can say,
like him or not, I think, because of his win millions of pounds have exchanged
hands throughout the world, all because of one little dog winning a prize at a dog
show.
Cinderella at the Garden

W
hen AKC finally decided to
move Cavaliers from the
miscellaneous class to a recognized
toy breed I was showing CH Partridge
Wood Misdemeanor in the old
registry. She was already 6 years
old. I decided to show her for one
year. At her first AKC show another
ruby bitch won the open class and
went on to winner’s bitch. Demi was
4th in her class. I was disappointed
but not discouraged. Her second AKC
show she not only was winner’s bitch
but also was BOB and further placed
second in the toy group. That was
the start of her winning year and we
never looked back. She was the
ultimate show dog and it didn’t really
matter who was holding the other
end of her lead. She knew what to do
and lived for the applause. She won
29 Bests of Breed and many group
placements that year along with BOS
at our first National specialty behind
the wonderful CH Ravenrush
Impresario. It was such an exciting
year full of many “firsts” and looking
