Grindey judged dogs at the Cavalier
Club at the Seymore Hall in London,
now if you wanted to see an exhibitor
living on his nerves, that was John
Evans on that day. Every national
newspaper, and many internationals
as well, were there, Everyone was
saying he has got to get that 3rd CC
today. After all Mr Grindey only saw
one Cavalier at Crufts so it could have
gone any way, but as we now know it
went the right way for us. The Best
In Show line up at Crufts was full of
star champions such as the Bulldog
Champion Pontfield So Small, the
Pembroke Corgi Champion Georgette
of Wey, the Greyhound Champion
Shalfleet Sir Lancel ot. The Reserve
Best in Show went to the Pointer
Show Champion Daviam
Titusdartius. Mr Grindey placed
the winners in reverse order, so
when he called in the Pointer Mr
Parkinson thought he was the
Best In Show, that way of
placing has never been allowed
since. All this was a long time
ago and one tends to forget
such a lot, I do remember after
the show a BBC cameraman
came and shook my hand

Alansmere dogs had a very good day
winning undergraduate with
Alansmere Sullivan Snuffles and the
R.C.C. with the bitch Alansmere
Ellgee Crystal, the judge said she had
a slightly light eye otherwise she
would have won the CC, what a day
that would have been if she had. The
Toy Group judge was Mrs Judy De
Casembroot, world famous allrounder. By the time I had gone
through all the breed classes and got
into the group any nerves had just
went and my theatre back-ground
kicked in. Mrs De Casembroot said
on TV “Star Quality”. As we were the
last group before Best in Show there
was no time to think about what we
had done. The Best In Show judge
was Mr Owen Grindey, as Honourary
