build self-care in as a priority each day and week. I make sure to schedule downtime, time off with family and friends, and self-care practices each day to keep me balanced and centered. This helps me maintain my energy levels, not get exhausted, and still enjoy what I do. I also find it’s important to develop self-care tools to support my energy and to pay attention to when my energy may be dipping and honor that too.

Also, managing our mindset is key. We will believe what we tell ourselves. If we tell ourselves things are hard, overwhelming and exhausting, we will believe that and it will be so. So, if we can remember to choose what we tell ourselves, it will go a long way to helping us manage our energy and commitments. Reminding ourselves that this is voluntary and we are choosing to say yes to things we are committing to and doing is more empowering than feeling like you HAVE to. This helps lower stress levels and can gives us clarity in when we say yes/no.

Here are some great self-care practices that I use and would encourage others to explore:

1. Quiet time each morning to refocus, be poured into, and center before I start my day.

2. Listen to music that is uplifting and encouraging each day.

3. Essential Oils. I love them and have selected the scents that uplift, balance, and energize me throughout the day.

4. Movement. Move around some each day…stretch, build muscle, and increase your circulation and your energy.

5. Stay hydrated. Drink enough water each day.

6. Enjoy a time of connection with others. This can be with family, friends, or a pet. Make time to stop and connect with another in a deep and meaningful way.

7. Get enough sleep. This is something we skimp on and try to get by on less but lack of sleep will affect your health, productivity, stress levels, energy levels, and even your attitude.

8. Do something you enjoy each day. It can be watching a show or reading a book or participating in a hobby or something else. Spend at least 15 minutes a day doing something that fills you up.

9. Choose to have life in your life! I do this by remembering to pause and choose with

purpose my next step, project, or activity. We make choices everyday. These choices on how we spend time and energy add up to our life. So, I encourage all of you to choose on purpose (not in auto-pilot) to do those things that matter most and be who you truly are called to be and want to be each and every day.

May you have an exciting, powerful, and meaningful 2018 and beyond!
