When the seasons change and the heat arrives we tend to complain because it is too hot.
Some of you may be speakers and stress ahead of the event worrying about getting distracted because you overheat easily.
There are ways to get through the heat if it is affecting
you severely:
~Lounge around with a fan or air conditioner on, or take a dip in the pool.
~Make it fun and bring out the kid in you by running through a sprinkler or a soft plastic slide.
~Taking a cool shower or bath is very soothing and keeps you cooled down for hours.
~Run your wrists under cold water. It cools off your blood which will circulate through your hot body.
~Put your lotion in the fridge before applying it. Try walking around a store or mall for a while and window shop.
~Snack on frozen fruit.
~Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
Whatever way you find to cool off will help you accomplish your tasks easier. You can apply these techniques several times a day to help you move forward without distress.
The summer months are also those of celebration: weddings, birthday parties, picnics, barbecues, etc. If you get overwhelmed by too many gatherings you may want to go lay under the stars and have some relaxing nights.
Your goal is to enjoy every day and find the possibilities that work best for you. When you do so, you will enjoy every day events a lot more. For me it’s medication because I overheat easily.
If you are speaking at an event and become overheated easily, plan ahead and ask to have a small table on stage for a small portable fan. You can even do so at outdoor events. Don’t feel awkward by doing this. It shows we are human and sometimes need props to get us through. This will help you shine and be confident while speaking without distractions. This will bring confidence and your speech will go smoothly.
You want to be taken serious when you speak, and these tips will help you stay cool, calm and collected. You might even think of more creative tips!
