The son of a Sicilian immigrant, he enjoys bringing his passion and appreciation for Sicily to his readers. He is a proud advocate and supporter of conservation organizations UNESCO, LIFE ConRaSi, and World Wildlife Fund—all of which work to protect the beauty and grandeur of Sicily’s engrossing past, resilient culture, and vibrant biodiversity.

~ What are some ways you are helping to bring this forward in the world?
The novel Siciliana. The novel features many UNESCO heritage sites as key locations in the book. This was a strategic decision to help bring awareness to Sicily’s vast and resilient cultural history. Additionally, one of the main characters practices falconry with a golden eagle. This was also a strategic choice as raptor conservation is one of Sicily’s biggest efforts via LIFE ConRasi and the WWF.
I am also an active advocate for World Wildlife Fund. As an Illinois Panda Ambassador, I join the World Wildlife Fund policy team on Captiol Hill every year where we advocate Congress on the importance of funding international conservation programs.
