How to Get Unstuck
Our Have you ever felt stuck? Like you’re putting in tons of effort and nothing seems to be changing? Or maybe you’re past all that effort and you’re just sitting in the stuck because you got tired of trying to jump out of the rut?
Over the last decade, many are the days I found myself in that spot. It’s a hopeless place, really. That feeling of being stuck. After years of spinning your wheels and deepening the rut, it’s hard to see your way out and over the ridge of the warn path.
I live in Northeast Ohio and the winters can be rough up here in the snow belt! We know a thing or two about getting stuck. Interestingly, the more you step on the gas, the more you spin your wheels and the deeper into the icy rut you sink. The solution is not to give it more gas but to try a new tactic. To finesse your way out by rocking the car. To clear the snow from around your tires. Or throwdown some kitty litter under your tires for traction. You can even try letting some air out of your tires. You can’t worry about what the other cars around you are doing – they might have 4-wheel drive or chains on their tires so it’s not a fair comparison. You have to work with what you have and try a new approach. The only time looking around at other people helps is when you need someone to give you a little push. The last thing you want to do is give it more gas and spin your wheels.

And that was exactly my problem. I was going with the “try harder and give it more gas” approach. If I worked harder and mustered up more self-determination, maybe I could get unstuck. In truth, I was making things worse.
Over the last several years, I’ve been coming alive to a new tactic. One that began with studying personality theory and developing better self-knowledge. I’ve discovered that self-knowledge is a game changer. One author calls it the “gateway to almost all life change.” Understanding your own wiring can be immensely helpful in your journey toward transformative growth. Where are you in your growth trajectory? Are you feeling stuck? Join me over my blog as I explore self-knowledge more!
