Lovin the Enemy 2 by Imani
Wow....let me just say that first!!! My mind was
blown away in part one but I definitely wasn’t
prepared for part two at all. This series was all
around one of the best series that I have read
so far for this year. Most series fall off on the
second part but the author actually got better.
Torn in Between the Two by
Sammi Rich
The one thing that I wish was that the cover
would’ve changed. I am not a fan when the
author only adds a number to the cover but
nothing else changes. I loved the cover for
part one but I was hoping for a cover change
for book 2.
Wow!! I don't know where to start. This had
to be one of the most refreshing books I've
read in 2016. The book centers around four
main characters who are all dealing with
their own life issues.
The author ended this series with so many
twists and surprises that I wasn’t prepared. I
wish more authors would be as detailed as she
was in her whole series. This book flowed so
well that I didn’t want to put the book down. I
felt like I was watching a movie the further I
got in the book. I felt every emotion that the
character experienced and at one point, I felt
myself even shedding a tear or two until I
remembered that this wasn’t a real story.
What made this book even better was that
there were very little editing issues. The ones
that were there didn’t take away from the
story at all.
Throughout the plot, the four become
intertwined in ways you will never imagine.
What I really enjoyed about this book was
how vividly the author made characters
come alive, and I found myself laughing,
crying, and just plain old rooting for the
crew altogether. Yes, this book definitely
had me in my feelings, and it kept me
engaged from the beginning till the end.
The story's ending answered any questions
you may have had from both books. Once the
story was done, there wasn’t anything else
that we needed to know. I truthfully wish that
there was one more book to the series
because I wasn’t ready to say bye to the
characters just yet. But I will definitely check
to see what other books Imani has out because
I need another dose of her writing. The
Bury me a G by Tranay Adams
The plot flowed with a page turning
mindset almost like reading a script for a
BET movie. The book does have quite a few
errors that weren't distracting and they
didn't take any enjoyment away from the
story. The cover was blah but the story itself
definitely deserves 5 stars.
I definitely recommend this book because I
love what the author did with the plot. The
portrayal of the characters as individuals
with something going on besides being
dope boys and trap queens was needed.
This book was definitely one I would call
relatable to everyday life. Boy met girl; boy
hurt girl; you know how the rest of that
turned out. Well, this book was one that will
surely take you on an emotional
rollercoaster. The cover for the book really
caught my attention. The artwork definitely
fit the title. However, I don’t think it went
well with the story. It just didn’t match up to
me.
The characters of the story possessed
personalities of all types; especially the
main two characters. Just like anyone else,
once you’ve been previously brb hurt, you
aren’t quick to open your heart up for love
again. Put a strong minded single mother
with a man who knew nothing outside of
the street life and there’s no need to guess
what happened next. The author did a
wonderful job adding in plots that'll keep
readers on edge.
The book started out slow for me, but as I
continued to read, it picked up and flowed
smoothly. I couldn’t put it down once I had
got into it. The fact that it was well written
with very few editing errors helped a lot. It
was certainly a page turner that held my
attention. Great job!
