Travis Van Winkle & Marissa Neitling
My next interview was with Marissa Neitling and Travis Van Winkle . What I have to say is that both actors were so gracious and accommodating . In talking to Marissa she had told me that one of the interesting parts of the show is the fact that like in real life they don ’ t know what happens from one episode to the next , it ’ s a guarded secret . For all she knows she could come in one day and find out that she is about to be killed in a scene . Marissa said it keeps the show interesting and all the actors on point . Travis then jumped in and said to me , “ they are supposed to give us a 24 hour notice before they kill us off right ?” We then all laughed . Marissa also told me that they don ’ t always know what episodes will always look like . They could be shooting one and all of a sudden shoot scenes for an upcoming episode and that clip is stored away for later use . Travis said there are many times other cast members are not even on the set for specific scenes and they have no idea what was shot until they see a final cut version of the episode . For example in the episode in Baltimore when the doctor is trying to abort Marissa ’ s baby it was so intense that Marissa said it was raw emotion . Production members kept asking Travis if he had seen the scene . He said no and he was told that the sound stage was just silent from the power of the performance . Travis went on to say that he didn ’ t realize the power of the scene that they were talking about until he saw the final cut of the episode .
Both Marissa and Travis were very supportive of their fan base and interact with them on both Instagram and Twitter . In fact Travis said that he has one fan on Instagram who always corrects him on his uniform , laughingly he said I ’ m doing my best . They both don ’ t know when and if they will get married on the show but they hope that if they do it will be a shipboard wedding . Marissa said the would have to do something with the baby coming . Marissa asked me what I thought would happen ? I said just speculating but after you have the baby I wonder if the baby will be a central theme upon itself . Like in the episode in Baltimore where the doctor was going to abort her baby for the stem cells to use the plague antibodies in them to help manufacture a cure . I said maybe a race will be on to go after the child for his or her blood for the same reason . Marissa just smiled at me and said that would be interesting and certainly a possibility .
Both Travis and Marissa carry themselves very well together presenting themselves as a couple to the fans even though they are not in the real world .
I next had the pleasure of talking to Rhona Mitra about her role as Doctor Rachel Scott . The British born actress was utterly charming and just a pleasure to speak with . Rhona also expressed that she did not know where the story was going either but that is what made the show so exciting and a challenge . Rhona said that whenever she gets into a role she wants to learn as much about the subject material as she can . As a result she has been studying infections and viruses along with vaccinations against them . She knows that this is a hot button topic now , especially in California . She then asked where we thought her character was going . Never once did Captain Chandler come into the conversation . Rhona said that just as in real life she doesn ’ t know what will happen with her character ' s love life but she will see it develop like we all do . She said that there appeared to be an attraction between her and Tex and asked me what I thought about it . I said I think that you can see the foundation of a relationship between both characters because they are polar opposites . Rhona then asked me , “ Are they really ?” I replied that on the surface it appears that there is and that is creating an attraction between the both of them . Rhona went on to remind me to remember the Dr . Scott does have a boyfriend , a fellow scientist who is still alive . They will most likely meet in the future and it is unknown to her what will happen between them or with Tex for that matter .

My last interview was with Adam Baldwin and Jocko Sims . Both Adam and Jocko were truly a pleasure to talk with . The number one question of course for Jocko was if his character Lt . Carlon Burke would end up having a relationship with the new character Lt . Ravit Bavis of the Israeli Special Forces played by actress Inbar Lavi . Once again he didn ’ t know where his character would be going with her but he did say he was afraid of the other new character Australian SCPO Wolf Taylor played by Bren Foster because he is a bad ass .
Adam Baldwin talked about his character being the back up to Captain Chandler and being a strong executive officer . Adam addressed the issue of whether or not he would find his family ? As everyone had stated he had no idea because he doesn ’ t know
