God over my circumstances and to hold on for
as long as it takes. God is faithful and he totally
kept his Word.
I had no option but to cry out to God for the life of my
daughter. I simply told God that I wasn’t ready to lose
a child. Night after night, I stayed in the hospital with
my daughter and prayed from midnight till I had no
more energy. My second daughter would spend the
day with Victory while I went home to get some rest,
until she offered to alternate the nights with me.
The doctors said that she might not fully recover, they
said it may take up to one year, they said the disease
might reoccur. As as they made their utterances, I
rejected all those declarations over my daughter and
countered them with the Word of God. Victory made
steady progress, recovered fully and was discharged
from rehab on 28th October 2015. She has been
perfectly healed and whole since then.
All I could do was plead for my daughter’s life
before God one night. I prayed a prayer which
sounded like this: “Oh God, please take away that
doctor and send me the one that knows what to
do.” And the very next day a new doctor came and
took one look at my daughter and ordered a plasma
exchange. She was then diagnosed with an autoimmune disease known as Neuromyelitis Optica
(NMO) which had affected so many cranial nerves.
Her pupils were fixed; she could no longer talk even
if she tried. I cried unto God, I cried so much and
I was completely drained but one thing I was
determined not to do was to give up. Every day that
came by I would look at my daughter and she was
still alive. I would thank God knowing that it meant
he was not finished with her yet.
Plasma exchange is a procedure where she’s
hooked up to a machine and all her blood pumped
out of her body, her plasma separated from her blood
cells and new plasma is mixed with her blood cells
and pumped back into her body. This process took
2 hours and she had to have this done 5 times in one
week. It was after the second session of the plasma
exchange that she stopped going downhill and
started recovering slowly.
Through the pain, the tears, the sleepless nights,
never for one day did the peace and grace of God
depart from us. There was not a day that I did not
hold on to the promises of God. For the first time in
my life I learnt to believe and declare the Word of

Every time I look at my daughter Victory, I see the
miraculous hand of God upon her. All I can say is,
“thank you Lord”
I will not fail to acknowledge all the prayer and
encouragement I received from my friends, family
cell group and members of the church where my
daughter worships. Those who called, prayed,
visited and supported us through the period. ❖
