ling flow from the lord Edith Edith with her Cell My first daughter Victory, is 23 years old. In May 2015 shortly after her 22nd birthday she developed symptoms of a cold. We didn’t think much of it because we assumed it would clear up with time. Victory has always been a healthy child and had never spent a night in hospital. Two weeks after the initial symptoms appeared, she was still feeling unwell so she went to the GP. The doctor told us that she had vertigo and gave her some tablets and said it would clear up. With each passing day the symptoms increased and the following week we went to A&E at North Middlesex Hospital. The doctor there told us the same thing and gave her more medication. By this time she was vomiting and she felt like the room was spinning so much that she couldn’t stand up. We gave the medication a chance to work and hoped and prayed she would get better. Five times we had been to the doctor between May and early July. By the time I came back from a trip at the end of July Victory had still not recovered. We went back to the GP and I insisted on getting a specialist referral and this time the doctor said she had an ear infection. A week later as we were still waiting for the referral, her speech became slurred and she could not keep, her eyes open in a lit room. I went to work on 4th August and got home around 8pm. As I got home my daughter’s face was drooping on one side. We called the emergency services and I thought she’d had a stroke but her blood pressure was normal. As we left for the hospital that night, little did I know how we were not going to be back home for some time! Victory in hospital For the first 2 weeks in the hospital I watched every day as her health diminished, hoping that she would start to feel better. I felt heartbroken the moment I realized that this was way more than I had imagined; Victory could no longer talk or see, feed herself, stand or walk.
