Seuss addresses life’s ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and
illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within. The main
character passes through many challenges along the book and learns what does it mean
to be alone, scared, sad, to make new friends, to start again, to have confidence in
yourself. Asked to give two adjectives describing the book, the students said “fascinating”
and “encouraging”. Through word games, exercises of synonyms, antonyms, riddles,
crosswords, the students managed to discover the meaning of the boy’s travel.
Acknowledged author of literature for children, Robert Munsch in his book „I love you
forever” details the cycle of life by chronicling the experiences of a young son and his
mother throughout the course of the boy's life, and describing the exasperating behavior
exhibited by him throughout his youth. In spite of her occasional aggravation caused by
her son's behavior, the mother nonetheless visits his bedroom nightly to cradle him in her
arms, and sing a brief lullaby promising to always love him. This story touched their soul
as family, and mothers, in particular occupy a special place in their hearts. In pairs,
students had to role play ideal and real dialogues between them and their parents. At the
end of the activities, when asked what they thought about the activities, they answered
they liked it very much as it helped them know themselves better and understand their
parents better.
In conclusion, the children need emotional support and leading in their lives, on the path of
which they meet challenges and situations that are continually changing. In order to help
them develop naturally and healthy we need to stay beside them and teach them how to
communicate their feelings. We should care more about their happiness and harmonious
development than anything else. Critics and absurd standards don’t help them. Therefore,
let’s allow the fish to swim, rabbits to run, eagles to fly. Let’s guide and discover the
strengths of today’s children, tomorrow’s adults.
