It
is a great pleasure to invite you
to our 7th edition of the ma-
gazine Los Nogales. We are very excited
to share a bit of the story of our library,
the Centro de Recursos Luisa Pizano.
For
many
of
us,
libraries
are
synonymous with books. And, as
such, have served as a repository of
thoughts, ideas and inspiration, and
as a gateway to an infinite number of
worlds beyond our everyday reality.
I distinctly recall, as a young child,
riding my bicycle across our small
town, library card in hand, and
entering our community library with
10
incredible awe. Returning to the same
site today, I realize it was a small,
understaffed and under resourced
village library. But, as a boy of ten,
this library held the keys to a world
beyond the farms and mountains that
marked the borders of my reality.
I also recall, later, as a university
student, climbing the staircases of our
immense brick library, exploring dusty
book stacks with the enthusiasm of an
archeological explorer - then spending
night after night, hour after hour
working and studying in the hushed
vibrancy of the university library.
