On September 8th I accepted a teaching assistant position in El Bonillo , a small village outside of Albacete in Castille-La Mancha . After spending nearly four years working and living in Valencia as a teaching assistant and translator , I didn ’ t know what to expect in a new region and a new city – I was both nervous and excited to start another school year and meet my new colleagues and students ! On my first day in El Bonillo , I was greeted by my lovely colleagues and curious students who were so eager to learn about me and where I ’ m from , Milwaukee , Wisconsin . My students in 3rd ESO took me on a tour of El Bonillo . I learned about the [ debatable ] story of El Rollo , explored the Thursday market , took a selfie in Plaza Mayor , learned about the local All Saint ’ s Day traditions at the cemetery , and visited the art gallery at Saint Catalina ’ s Church .
