History of the Amazon Region of Colombia
During the period of the Colony the colonization of some places of the foot of mount attempted this is the case of the high Caquetá and Putumayo where the Jesuits, from the XVIIth century until their expulsion in 1767, penetrated on the "nation of the Encabellados" name that they gave to the Western Tukano. Forming the Republic, the extensiveness of the territory, the difficulties of access and the dispersion of the aboriginal population hindered the incorporation of these extensive territories to the life and economy of the country. In 1956, the Caja Agraria dealt with the phenomenon of colonization by opening fronts in Caquetá and Ariari.
