To the north, on the border with Venezuela and Brazil, live the Curripaco and Puinave peoples. In the center of the Amazon, located on the Guayana (Colombian Guiana) shield is the Cultural Complex of Vaupés conformed by a great diversity of peoples, who practice compulsory exogamy, which is also linguistic exogamy. To this cultural complex belong, among others, the Tucano, Desano and Cubeo peoples and the Nukak people of great spatial mobility, who live in the interfluves of the great rivers of the region. To the south of the Caquetá river on the tertiary and quaternary plain ("Amazonian Plain"), the Uitoto and Ticuna peoples live.
