BLUE RIDGE, GA
Distance from ATL: 100 miles / 1.5 hours
Fall can be a tough time of the year to take a week off
from work. One of my favorite day trips to take where
you can squeeze in as many fun filled Fall activities as
possible is to Blue Ridge, Georgia.
THE JOURNEY
On the way up to Blue Ridge, make a quick stop at
Burt’s Pumpkin Patch, where you will find the biggest
pumpkins you’ve ever seen. They even have hayrides
for the kiddos! Tip: Get to Burt’s Pumpkin Patch right
when they open at 9 AM, so you can beat the crowd and
take as many pictures as you want in never ending rows
of pumpkins.
If you love to hike, head on over to the Amicalola Falls,
one of the Seven Natural Wonders in Georgia at the
Amicalola Falls State Park. Warning: don’t bring dogs on
the metal stairs part of this hike consisting of over 88
stairs—it’s a little tough on their paws.
Continue your journey up to Blue Ridge, GA for some
fabulous lunch spots like Joe’s BBQ or Fightingtown
Tavern for their famous Glenn Fries, a mountain full of
deliciousness topped with spicy chorizo, creamy beer
cheese, onion, tomatoes, and jalapeños.
After lunch, walk around Blue Ridge and do a little
shopping at one of their many stores—one of my
favorites is Juliana’s Boutique—before heading back
home. On the way home, make a stop at either Mercier
Orchards or BJ Reece Orchards to pick your own apples!
