Annual General Meeting

October 2012

The Annual General Meeting for 2012 was held here in Barnsley at The Civic , a beautifully refurbished theatre that re-opened its doors to the public in March 2009 after being closed for more than 11 years . 59 members attended on a dark , damp night to enjoy presentations given by Gary Chapman ( Head of Pensions Administration ) and John Hattersley ( Fund Director ). The meeting was chaired for the first time by the recently appointed Clerk & Treasurer , Steve Pick . Gary gave an interesting Administration Review , which included Membership Movements , Activity & Performance , Annual Review , CPI Forecast , 2013 Fund Valuation , Auto-Enrolment and the New Scheme 2014 . John then gave his Investment Report which included Statement of Accounts , Fund Performance , Asset Management , Asset Allocation and Where The Fund Is Now . After these presentations questions were invited from the floor , with some members having submitted their questions prior to the meeting via the AGM invitation form . As well as the SYPA presentations in the main auditorium , static displays from other organisations were on show in The Panorama balcony area ; Voluntary Action Barnsley displayed information about forthcoming events . South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue provided a visual display informing us about their service plan for 2011 - 2013 . Police & Crime Commissioner representatives gave us information about the election of a Police & Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire . A new addition this year was a dedicated SYPA Information Point where members could come along and ask our pension professionals for help and guidance . During the evening a short survey was issued giving members the opportunity to tell us how they thought the meeting went . The overall results are shown on the next page ; click here
