On Saturday , June 25 , 2022 , applicants interviewed for four open positions on the North American Limousin Junior Association ( NALJA ) board . They spoke about their desire to be on the board , their biggest influences in life , and their future goals .
The new officers and board members for the 2022-2023 year were named during the awards ceremony held on June 29 , 2022 , in Amarillo , Texas .
Elected to lead NALJA as president for another year was Shelby Hubbard from Miami , Okla . Shelby is the daughter of George and Suzanne Hubbard . Shelby is currently attending Oklahoma State University where she is an Applied Exercise Science major . After graduation , she plans to apply for graduate school in hopes to receive her doctorate in physical therapy . Upon being elected president , Hubbard stated , “ I am humbled and grateful to be able to serve another year as president . I am eager and excited for this upcoming year .” Anyone who knows Shelby , knows that she has a passion for the juniors and wants to make a positive difference in the junior association .
Landry Kleman , son of Ashely Kleman , Nazareth , Texas , was elected to serve as the NALJA vice president for the upcoming year . “ I am very excited about serving my second year as the NALJA vice president . I have really enjoyed my time on the board and am looking forward to this next year . I can ’ t wait to see everyone at the shows this year and at junior nationals next summer ,” states Kleman . Landry will be pursuing a degree in Animal Science at Kansas State University this fall . He hopes to manage a feed yard or ranch in the future as he is interested in the nutrition and genetics side of beef production .
Serving as the 2022-2023 secretary is Samantha Moore , daughter of Joe and Tabby Moore , Staunton , Va . Moore stated that “ serving on the NALJA Board of Directors has allowed me to promote the breed along the east coast as well as become closer with some of the younger junior members . I hope that by being the NALJA board secretary , I will be able to better serve the junior members of the breed .” Samantha is currently attending Virginia Tech majoring in Biological Sciences on the pre-med track to pursue a career in anesthesiology .
“ Serving on the NALJA board has given me a sense of fulfillment and has allowed me to find purpose in my life . A position like NALJA treasurer sets the stage for me to be the person the world needs me to be ,” states Riley Smith , Macomb , Ill ., upon being elected to serve as treasurer for the 2022-2023 year . Riley is the son of Bret and Erin Smith . Riley is pursuing an animal science degree at Oklahoma State University , and participating on the livestock judging team .
