 Ingredients

Local Ingredients
Most towns in Yunnan have a local market in the middle of
town. Xizhou’s morning market is where mostly everyone goes
if they want to buy local ingredients. There you can find
anything from meat to garlic shoots, ketchup to milk, cooking
supplies to wooden carts. It is the go-to location for buying
anything that does not need to be imported.

Foreign Ingredients
Not many shops in town use imported ingredients because it is
cheaper and easier to get local ingredients. However, if there is
a certain ingredient that needs to be imported (like the
Hershey’s chocolate syrup at the coffee shop), then that can be
done. One way to do this is to find an importer. This may be a
bit more expensive but provides a guaranteed delivery
according to a schedule. Since the price of transportation can
change, the price of using an importer can change. Another
method that you can use to get foreign ingredients is ordering
online.
