Assessment and Diagnostic Program: Provides a secure facility for male and female children and adolescents, who would benefit from Psychological Testing and other additional evaluations in order to clarify diagnostic and treatment needs. Expected stays are 30-90 days. Clients receiving these services participate in all program components.
Stabilization Program: Serves children and adolescents who are in need of intensive residential care and treatment. This service is designed for nonhospitalized individuals experiencing an acute crisis that may jeopardize their current community living situation. It includes outcome-oriented, child and family centered individualized treatment. A short term stay, 30-90 days, to ensure safe return to community setting.

Our counselors, physicians, and psychiatric staff use a 12- step approach to address a wide range of substance abuse and co-occurring mental health problems, and our treatment regimen includes medication management and medication-assisted treatment as appropriate. Our active assessment center provides comprehensive evaluations of substance abuse, addiction, and related mental health problems in order to identify the most appropriate treatment for each client. The Residential Treatment Center, a TRICARE ®- certified program, serves adolescent boys and girls, ages 11 – 17, who demonstrate a persistent pattern of severe emotional and / or behavioral issues that are disruptive, frequent and cannot be treated in a lesser level of care.
We provide intensive treatment in a structured, therapeutic environment as well as: Gender-specific programs; Individual therapy three times a week; Psychiatric visits twice a week; Family therapy weekly; 12-month licensed school; Substance abuse education; Life skills, social skills and leisure education groups; Psych-educational and process groups; Supervised therapeutic community outings; Specialissue groups focusing on anger management, grief and loss, discharge readiness, trauma, self-injury and children of military parents.

Established in 1962, the Virginia Treatment Center for Children( VTCC) is the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Program of the Department of Psychiatry at VCU Medical Center. VTCC provides inpatient acute care crisis stabilization and a full spectrum of outpatient mental health services for children and adolescents ages 3 through 17. VTCC is located on VCU Medical Center ' s MCV Campus in downtown Richmond, Virginia and is convenient to I-95 and I-64.
