Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center in Portsmouth, Virginia offers intensive, residential treatment programs for youth in order to help them overcome behavioral health problems. Our programs provide a therapeutic and safe setting to address comprehensive mental health needs and give residents the tools they need for a complete recovery. New Hope Carolinas( otherwise known as New Hope Treatment Centers) is a Virginia Medicaid Provider, treating males and females, ages 12-21, with specialized programming for those with lower cognitive functioning and sexually harming behaviors( male program) and low functioning sexually harming behaviors( male program), general psychiatric program and victims of sex trafficking.

Horizon Program: Provides comprehensive assessment and individualized treatment services to adolescents who have been identified as needing treatment for sexually abusive behavior. The program is overseen by therapists, Certified Sex Offender Treatment Providers( CSOTP), and uses Mode Deactivation Therapy to interrupt the chain of thoughts and feelings that led to offenses.
Sunrise Program: Provides gender-specific, structured and nurturing treatment. The program is divided into two units by age and offers young women the opportunity to move past the obstacles that mental health problems, abuse and victimization have placed in their path. Therapies are carefully combined on an individual basis to provide an environment in which young women can heal and flourish. Treatment focusing upon sexual reactivity secondary to previous abuse is provided on an individual basis. In addition, North Spring Behavioral Healthcare has developed a Sex Trafficked and Exploited Girls Program.
Adventurers Program: Designed for the treatment of younger boys, who suffer from emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders which have resulted in an inability to safely remain in the community. These children have typically suffered significant trauma in their lives, and need a safe place to heal. Our treatment team is able to provide for children with sexual reactivity, emotional volatility and difficulty in trusting adults.
Trailblazers Program: Designed for the treatment of child and adolescent boys who suffer from emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. It is divided into two age specific units. These young men require intensive intervention in order to overcome repeated problems with school performance, substance abuse, and rebellion against authority.
