Fifteen Years
“
One thinks back to 1 April 2008 when a meeting was held at Eagle Canyon Golf Estate .
Five estate managers attended that meeting , where we discussed the advantages of forming an association to create an organised platform within which all residential communities in the country could network , create standards , and benchmark themselves with others in the industry . All five of those estates became founder members of the Association of Residential Communities ( ARC ) and , within a month , six others joined this exciting opportunity .
Eleven residential estates became founder members of ARC and remain fully involved and committed to bringing all residential communities together to act as one , facilitated by an association .

Those 11 founder members are Eagle Canyon , Oubaai , Serengeti , Pecanwood , Blair Athol , Steenberg , De Zalze , Leopard Creek , Silver Lakes , Zimbali and Simbithi . All 11 of these communities remain members of ARC to this day .

ARC has grown to a membership of around 250 of the largest residential communities in the country and a further 200 smaller estates , many of which are members because of the membership of the management company . During these 15 years , ARC facilitated the process of forming the Community Associations Institute of South Africa ( CAISA ) as well as the Residential Communities
