NATURALIZATION

Requirements :

Hold a permanent or temporary residency . Lived continuously in Mexico for two years previous to the application date . Demonstrate you have a basic conversational level of Spanish . Two years of temporary residence , the application may be initiated six months before it expires .

A foreigner married to a Mexican will receive one year of temporary residency ; the residency will be renewed for a second year . Upon renewal , in the third year , the spouse may apply for either permanent residency which never expires or Mexican citizenship .
