RAF RESERVES IN THE UK
Within the UK you are never far away from an RAF Reserves squadron . There are 29 squadrons and units predominantly co-located at our 20 airbases , although in some circumstances you ’ ll find us in major cities like Edinburgh or Cardiff too . The roles of the squadrons and units vary around the country and deliver everything from force protection to media support ; we even have a Reserves military band .
In short , there is a role for everyone and hopefully not too far from you . We have seven general support squadrons ( accommodating a range of roles ) with the remainder being specialist . With the exception of our nationally recruited roles – intelligence , media , medical , musicians and police – the rest of our roles are recruited locally to that squadron .
As a rule of thumb we look to recruit within an hour ’ s drive time from that squadron . Please refer to the map , which illustrates where we are , and explore the website to find out what roles are close to you .
