SEACO’s mDengue Mobile Application
awarded gold at ITEX 2017
The International Technology Exhibition (ITEX) is where new
inventors from different universities and institutes exhibit their
latest inventions to other inventors and visitors. SEACO along
with five other different Monash University Malaysia inventors
were invited to exhibit their own inventions. The SEACO IT
team was awarded gold for their invention of the mDengue
mobile application.
SEACO in collaboration with the Segamat District Public
Health Office developed the mDengue mobile application. The
pioneers of the mobile application development were
Kridaraan, Norliza and Ameerul from the SEACO IT team. This
project is the brainchild of the Director and former Associate
Director of SEACO, Professors Daniel Reidpath and Pascale
Allotey, respectively.
The application was launched by YB Datuk Seri Dr
S. Subramaniam, Minister of Health, on November 20th, 2016
at Segamat. The purpose of the mDengue mobile application
is to help control the dengue vector (Aedes mosquitoes) at
a community level in Segamat, Johor. The mobile application
is used as a technological tool for the community to take
pictures of a potential breeding site of mosquitoes.

SEACO was awarded the ISO 9001:2008
Quality Management Certificate by the SAI
Global Certification Services, for the
management of an integrated research
technology platform and the provision of
innovative technologies. This certification
motivates SEACO to continue ensuring
stakeholder and collaborator satisfaction
through the effective application of the
system, including processes for continual
improvement of the system, the
assurance of conformity to them, and
applicable statutory and regulatory
requirements.
