The cluster held myriad activities such as a conference, workshop, symposium, and community engagement activities. It also produced high-impact publications and award-winning conference presentations. The cluster will continue to examine health and wellbeing at work, ageing, and public health. In 2017, in collaboration with the School of Business Monash University Australia and GA21, we hosted the inaugural Healthcare Conference 2017, themed ‘Improving Health and Social Care Management in Malaysia: Learning from Global Experience’ on 28 November 2017, followed by an intensive, interactive Healthcare Workshop titled ‘Leading System-wide Transformation of Healthcare Services’ on 29 November 2017. The one-day conference brought together international and local policy-makers, practitioners and researchers to share insights from around the world and to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Malaysian health and social care sectors. The highly interactive and intensive workshop facilitated by Ms Jane Evans, Director of Corporate Services and Performance Excellence at Eastern Health (Victoria, Australia), centered on a systems approach and performance monitoring to improve patient access and flow through the hospital for safer care and better patient experience. The first Gerontechnology Symposium in November 2017 was organised by Gerontechnology Lab, in collaboration with Petrosains and IEEE Technology & Engineering Management Society (TEMS), Malaysia. The symposium brought together academics and researchers of various disciplines, industry practitioners, government and NGOs from the Asian region with the theme of ‘Intergenerational Healthy Aging through Services, Design and Technologies.’ The event served as a platform for sharing and exchanging of knowledge and information from the latest research and development in the field. 8
