Zebrafish is gaining prominence as an important vertebrate model for investigating various human diseases. The number
of researchers using zebrafish models has been dramatically increasing throughout the world, including Malaysia. BRIMS
has co-organised the event in 2015 and 2017 with Cancer Research Malaysia and University of Malaya. The aim of the
workshop was to provide a platform for Malaysian researchers and students who are currently working or planning to
work with the zebrafish model to learn the latest research techniques using zebrafish. The workshop was structured
around research seminars and lectures, along with hands-on sessions conducted by international and local experts. This
workshop also aimed at promoting collaboration within the zebrafish researchers’ community in Malaysia. The event held
in 2017 succeeded in attracting various industries support in the form of sponsorships.
