COACH TRAIN EAT WORK Online fitness marketplace PayAsUGym won the Best Health and Fitness Innovation award at Elevate. It won specifically for the launch of its Monthly+ Pass which enables gym operators to tap into the fast-growing multi-member market by listing their club within the PayAsUGym marketplace. ELECTRIC SHADES Just when the fitness industry has got its head around how to turn a fitness watch into a fashion accessory a new idea emerges: rings. “Get ready to ditch your nana’s old gold wedding ring,” the team behind the Motiv Ring (don’t) boast. But bin it you just may, once Motiv finalises a UK launch. Boasting a heart rate sensor, fitness and sleep tracker, and a five-day charge time, it could be taking over the wearable tech market by the beginning of 2018. TECH UPDATE: ‘Watching’ as you sleep... Not content with trying to get the world active one step count at a time, Fitbit have announced a sideways step into the world of medical aids. "We'd perform a useful service by alerting users to the fact that they have a problem (with sleep apnea)," said Conor Heneghan, Fitbit's lead research scientist. An interesting idea, hopefully paired with new designs for wearable tech that you can sleep in. PUT A RING ON IT After the ‘success’ of Google Glass, The fitness industry have not learned their lesson and are bringing out a range of wired-up specs, led by Salifo’s Smith Lowdown Focus Mpowered. They’re due out this Autumn... “ Offering feedback on various aspects of your brain’s activity, including the focusing of your eye, it does at least have the potential to help your athletic endeavours. At least they look less creepy than the Google Glass. Benefits include improved concentration and greater cardio and immune health.” @REPsUK FM 11
