FAMILY TIME Annabel putting Ring Fit Adventure through its paces. me is the time it takes for the transition between exploring, the battles and moving between levels. Just as my heart rate was beginning to rise, either I started a battle which then placed an emphasis on muscular resistance-based training or the level ended. For my level of fitness at least, I really struggled to find the gameplay consistently challenging enough to be a serious workout. For me, this is no substitute for the gym or traditional exercise-based methodologies. What it is, is a fantastic way to introduce more physical activity into your daily routine, and if it helps even a small number of individuals to live a less sedentary lifestyle, then it’s a winner in my eyes. So, we’ve had feedback from our very own REPs Membership Manager, but what does the game offer an everyday family from a fitness perspective? Charlotte Galbraith and her children Annabel (aged 9) and Fraser (aged 5) were given the task (treat) of working through the levels and testing the game with Charlotte’s brother, Matthew Bates. After a comprehensive review from adults and children alike, Matthew had this to say: “Ring Fit Adventure walks you through every step to make sure you’re doing movements correctly to avoid injury and over-exertion. It actively suggests breaks and water intake and gives fun facts “ It has colourful worlds and there is a fun, bouncy soundtrack.” about the body, fitness and diet. “It offers fun exercise gamification and looks to cover all ages and fitness levels. It has colourful worlds and there is a fun, bouncy soundtrack. “The Ring-Con [the ring that is held by the user] is really sturdy, although the leg strap can come loose if not correctly fastened.” @REPsUK FM 15
