Senior Profile: Kimee Chavez / Liberty High School In what ways are you different from your Freshman self? I was more shy when I first started high school. And, I was less outgoing and now I feel like I am more friendly/outgoing. What advice would you give to an incoming freshman? Don’t be afraid to make new friends! There are many students that might have similar interest as you. Also, join a sport or club. There are are many clubs and sports at high school. It’s also a great opportunity to make new friends! What sports do you play, how long and what positions? I have played girls soccer for 3 years. Sadly, my junior year I got injured and couldn’t play during that year. I mainly played offense, and my position was attacking midfielder and center forward. Other than sports, what activities are you involved in at school? I joined ECO SQUAD. It was based on how to make our environment inside and outside an eco-friendlier place. What activities are you involved in outside of school? I volunteer at the Women’s Shelter at St. Mathews Church and I also played in a soccer club outside of school. What is your funniest high school memory? I had no idea what my school’s nurse name was until my junior year and when I finally figured it out, she had the same name as me. What’s the most creative excuse you’ve ever used to get out of an assignment? I don’t have creative ones, but I have used the whole my mom took my folder to work excuse. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? A college graduate and a job I truly enjoy. Happily married, and hopefully with kids. NOV/DEC 2015 23
