2. Response to Calls from the Emergency Department or Hospital Units. a.

As a designated Trauma Center, Medical Staff Members participating in the Trauma Service must abide by the requirements for designation( State) or verification( ACS), as delineated in Trauma Services policies.
Response in-person or by telephone or other communication device is expected within 30 minutes of receipt of communication. If requested, in-person responses are expected no later than 60 minutes after being contacted, or as agreed upon between Physicians / APPs based on specific patient condition.
c. On-Call Physician Taking Simultaneous Call at Another Hospital. When a Member of the Medical Staff is on Emergency Department call, he or she is permitted to be on-call simultaneously at two or more facilities as long as Hospital knows of such an arrangement in advance. The Member on simultaneous call must have planned back-up in the event that he or she is called while responding to a call from another Hospital and is unable to respond to an on-call request from the Hospital in a reasonable time as required by above. d.
On-Call Physician Performing Scheduled Procedures or Elective Surgeries. When a Member of the Medical Staff is on Emergency Department call, he or she is permitted to perform scheduled elective procedures and surgeries. However, the Member must have planned back-up in the event that he or she is called while performing the procedure / elective surgery and is unable to respond to the on-call request in a reasonable time as required above.
RULE 3-2
Patient Types and Admissions A. Definition of Patient Types or Status:
Patients receiving care( including patients requiring admission) in the Hospital shall be in an appropriate status based on the service provided and reflecting specific regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, federal and state law and the CMS conditions of participation.
B. Admission Criteria:
Only members of the Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Provider Staff( APP) who have the appropriate privileges may admit patients to the Hospital. Any patient admitted to the Hospital shall be under the direct care or supervision of a Member of the Medical Staff or a Category Ia APP. A physician will be responsible for the medical or psychiatric care and treatment of the patient while in the Hospital which
