New-Grad Nursing Support Program The year-long graduate nurse residency fosters a tiered approach to newly graduated nurses transitioning to practice . A new nurse can expect an individualized orientation that includes dedicated preceptors , specialty classes and training with a structured curriculum . Employees are hired to a specific unit within the medical / surgical , progressive care , critical care , or specialty modules . Unit availability varies with each cohort .
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager , this position provides optimal patient care utilizing knowledge and skills within the context of the nursing process . The incumbent is accountable for patient outcomes over an entire episode of care .
Program Details :
• 11-16 week orientation with a dedicated preceptor .
• Didactic instruction includes transition to practice , self-care , skills fairs , and EKG training .
• Curriculum includes professional development , leadership and interprofessional communication .
• Cohort hiring is offered multiple times yearly for local northern Nevada graduates .
• Active Nevada RN license is required upon hire .
• Requirements : NV RN license and AHA BLS card Cohorts are hired twice per year . One in the summer and one in the winter .
Renown Health hosts an annual two-day Nursing Excellence conference . The second day focuses specifically on critical care .
