Ecobuild preview Climbing the ranks The BPVA is once again supporting Ecobuild and telling visitors about its initiative Rated Solar Installer. Rated Solar Installer is a new rating programme for the UK solar PV industry which enables domestic and commercial customers, as well as schools, to find high quality products and installers. The platform is based on well-used and popular rating concepts and is designed to give customers confidence in going solar and a peace of mind guarantee. In a few simple steps, customers can register, post a job, choose their installer and rate the installer once a job is completed. Domestic installations under this programme receive free monitoring and 12 months free insurance. Customers can also apply for finance, and buy extended insurance and maintenance services online. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the cost of installation which can be achieved partly by reducing installers’ sales and marketing fixed overheads. There are no upfront fees involved in joining Rated Solar Installer for both installers and manufacturers. Installers only pay a small fixed fee per install after the completion of an installation. Its mission is to ensure quality remains high and customers are protected, by driving sub-standard products and service providers out of the market. Rated Solar Installer hopes to drive that ambition, by ensuring that consumers get access to the best local installers, products and financing, all done at the click of a mouse. Rating Criteria The customer rates installers on below criteria: • Quality • Value for Money • Reliability • Workmanship • Professionalism • Product Knowledge • Customer Service S6146, S7132 Setting the trend Stiebel Eltron is using Ecobuild as the springboard for its launch of the HM Trend – a new pre- plumbed and pre-wired hydronic module which links a hot water cylinder to an air source heat pump. According to Stiebel Eltron, the HM Trend significantly reduces the installation time of its range of ASHPs. The company will also be exhibiting its latest generation of heat pumps. Its new WPF products are designed specifically for domestic installations and operate up to 13kW in single phase. The WPC range is designed for ease of installation in more confined spaces whilst the WPL 15/25 inverter driven heat pump is designed specifically for the UK climate. All three products have a higher level of integration making them more ‘plug and play’. Visitors will also be given the opportunity to try out Stiebel Eltron’s Sound Station – a sound box which enables visitors to compare the sound of its heat pumps to other domestic appliances. Products from the company’s solar PV and solar thermal range will also be on display. N1470 Planit earth BayWa r.e Solar Systems will be showcasing a number of new products at Ecobuild.
