Horry Electric serves industrial , commercial and residential customers in the unincorporated areas of the county . The Cooperative is headquartered in Conway and is one of 20 Electric Cooperatives in South Carolina .
The Cooperative , located at 2774 Cultra Road in Conway , has about 72,500 members , with nearly 87 % of them being residential .

Residents of Conway have multiple choices for communications services , including internet and home telephone , in and around the city : Verizon , AT & T , HTC , Frontier Communications and

Based in Conway , HTC is the largest telecommunications cooperative in the United States . Celebrating 71 years this year as the local leader in communications , HTC provides services in Horry , Georgetown and Marion counties . Utilizing the area ’ s most extensive fiber optic network , HTC services include internet , video , security , mobile and voice . HTC Internet service starts at 300Mbps and goes up to 1 Gig , allowing for better telecommuting and virtual meetings for work , as well as FaceTime calls with family and friends . City water and sewer
The city of Conway provides public water and sewer services within the Conway city limits and to designated areas outside of the city limits , under the terms of a service agreement with Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority . Call 843-248-1780 for more information .
The Bucksport Water System once served areas south of Conway only , but has expanded its service territory . Its office , located at 2809 Fourth Ave ., Conway , is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a . m . -5:30 p . m . and Friday from 8 a . m . -noon . Call 843-248-3195 .
Rates for these services are extremely reasonable when compared to other areas of the nation .
Trash pickup For residents within the city limits , Conway ’ s Solid Waste Department provides curbside pickup of garbage , trash , yard cuttings and recyclables , so there ’ s no need for city residents to haul their recyclables to convenience centers or recycling facilities .
New city residents should contact the city ’ s finance office at 843- 248-1780 for disposal / recycling containers .
If there is no rollout garbage cart at their residence , new residents must pay $ 85 to buy one for their garbage and trash ; however , if a cart in good condition is already there new residents are welcome to use it . Monthly fees are $ 26 for the first carts and $ 15 for additional carts .
Call 843-248-1780 for the 65- gallon rollout-recycling cart . There is a $ 70 charge for these carts . However , there is no monthly fee .
These trash and recycling carts are available to city residents only .
Residents living in the unincorporated areas of Horry County ( outside of the city limits ) must take their recyclables to a convenience center or recycling facility . Recycling centers closest to Conway are . 4 miles from the intersection of S . C . 319 and Bill Jones Road in the Cool Spring community ; U . S . 701 North , Conway in front of the S . C . Department of Highways and Public Transportation ; four miles northeast of Conway , beside the Solid Waste Authority Administration Office at 1886 S . C . 90 ; and off S . C . 544 on Jackson Bluff Road , across from the Grand Strand Water & Sewer Office .
