Low taxes part of Conway ’ s appeal
Looking for a home in the Conway area ?
It ’ s important to understand the different property tax and fee rates in the community . Properties for primary residences are taxed at a lower rate ( 4 %) than second homes ( 6 %). People living inside the city limits can expect to pay more than those just outside the municipal borders because they are paying for additional services .
For example , the property taxes on an owner-occupied home worth $ 200,000 inside the city of Conway would be $ 1,167.20 per year . For a home in the unincorporated area just outside the Conway limits , the property taxes on a $ 200,000 primary residence would be $ 505.60 . Those taxes don ’ t include utilities — bills vary depending on usage — and they also don ’ t include stormwater fees .
Inside city limits , stormwater fees are $ 87 per home per year . Conway charges $ 30 per year for a sidewalk maintenance fee and $ 57.48 per year for a streetlight fee . The city charges $ 85 for the purchase of a green roll cart . Monthly fees are $ 26 for the first carts and $ 15 for additional carts . There is a $ 70 roll-out fee for a blue recycling cart and there is no monthly fee .
Outside the city , residents can take their trash to one of the county ' s 24 waste disposal centers , though some HOAs contract with private haulers for trash removal .
Sidewalks are welcoming in downtown Conway .
