Scott Abrahamson, Abrahamson Relay, from the Coleville Nation took home the title of the 2017 Champion Indian Relay Racer. Other titles won were Chief Race, Tory Provost, Lakota War Path: Warrior Race, Brian Beetem, Dancing Warrior; Maiden Race, Autumn Charges Strong, Sage Creek Vets; Kids Indian Relay, Lakota War Path; and Junior Relay River Road Juniors. Special awards voted on by the racers were: Best Regalia, Starr School, Isiah Crossguns; Horse of the Year, Tellatubbie, Young Money; Kirby White Hawk Determination Award, Waylon Bull- calf, Pikuni Elite; Youth Best Regalia, Little Pikuni Express; Youth Horse of the Year, Epic, Lakota War Path; and Youth Kirby White Hawk Determi- nation Award, Blue Moon. Horse Nations Indian Relay Council will begin their season at the Tour of Champions Season Opener 2018 in Gillette, WY. There are tour of champions races scheduled for almost every weekend across Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Wash- ington with the “Championship of Champions” being held in Kennewick, WA September 21- 23rd.
