Sets New Records

ecords were meant to be broke and Horse Nations Indian Relay Council did it this in 2017 with a record
numbers of 46 memberships from 11 tribes, and 36 teams at the “Championship of Champions” in Billings,
Montana September 22-24th. Rain and cold could not keep the relay teams from competing the three days to
end a very successful year. Thirteen teams won their berth into the finals by winning one of the follow accred-
ited races, Muckleshoot Gold Cup, Emerald Downs, Auburn, WA; Powder River Days, Sheridan, WY; Fire Cracker
Race, Pine Ridge, SD; North American Indian Days, Browning, MT; Eagle Butte Hometown Days, Eagle Butte,
SD; Oglala Run with the Warriors, Pine Ridge, SD; Dodson Relay Races, Dodson, MT; North West Montana Fair,
