utumn Charges Strong, two time Women’s Ulti-
mate Warrior Champion, raced to victory in the
2017 HNIRC Maiden Race at Championship of Champi-
ons in Billings, MT September 22-24th, winning races
both days and the 2017 title. Her winning season
included Powder River Days, Sheridan, Wyo-
ming at the season opener, Eagle Butte Home-
town Days, Eagle Butte, SD, and MHA Nation
Races in Parshall, ND.
When Charges Strong was younger her
dream was to be a barrel racer but soon
found out that her dads relay thorough-
breds were not so inclined to want to be
arena horses. She would spend during Crow
Fair riding around the Pow Wow and en-
tered the 330 furlong Cowgirl Races, later
they were increase to 1⁄2 mile and called
the ladies race.
Four years ago she entered the Women’s
Ultimate Warriors Race as a 3 woman
team, one canoed, one ran, and one rode
3
horses over three miles bareback through the hills.
