Balinese Head Massage About 6,000 years ago, on the Indonesia’s Spice Islands of Bali, developed a ritual that was performed on the body that linked to the healing of emotional and physical health. It is a smoothing and relaxing massage predominantly to the head, neck and shoulders, that uses elongated strokes with the hands and forearms and incorporates elements of Shiatsu and Acupressure points to loosen spasm and emotional tension. Balinese massage techniques include acupressure, skin rolling and flicking, firm and gentle stroking, percussion, and application of essential oils. The combination of manual therapy and aromatherapy is intended for relaxation, loosening fascial restrictions, and stimulating the lymphatic system and the flow of blood.
