Therefore, O Arjuna, best of the Bhäratas, in the very beginning
curb this great symbol of sin [lust] by regulating the senses, and slay
this destroyer of knowledge and self-realization. - BG 3:41 -
The senses are compared to venomous serpents. They want to act
very loosely and without restriction. The yogi, or the devotee, must
be very strong to control the serpents—like a snake charmer. He
