Senses & Sense Control (Cont’d)
Unless all of the senses are engaged in the service of the Lord,
even one of them engaged in sense gratification can deviate the
devotee from the path of transcendental advancement.
- BG 2:67, purport -
If one wants to make steady progress on the path of self-realiza-
tion, he must try to control the forces of the material senses. There
are the forces of talk, forces of anger, forces of mind, forces of the
stomach, forces of the genitals, and forces of the tongue. One who
is able to control the forces of all these different senses, and the
mind, is called gosvämé, or svämé. - BG 5:23, purport -
Unless one is transcendentally situated, it is not possible to cease
from sense enjoyment. The process of restriction from sense enjoy-
ment by rules and regulations is something like restricting a dis-
eased person from certain types of eatables. The patient, however,
neither likes such restrictions nor loses his taste for eatables.
