the water we decided to show the boys and girls how to skip. It was a bit
hard in the sand. It brought me back to when I was a young girl - I loved
skipping.
We all had great time; it was so much fun for young and old. Looking back
over the summer I have many memories.
One day there was a whale just
where we were swimming. We were
all a bit afraid of the whale and sad
there was nothing we could for him.
He was there for a while and just
swam away the next day. Later I
was sad to hear on the news there
was a whale beached on Greystones
beach.
My granddaughter learned to swim
without her armbands. She had the
best time and I was so happy for
her. Some of the little ones learned
how to knit on the beach - there
were funny shapes and dropped
stitches. Elis would crochet little

nets for catching crabs and she
brought some bacon to put in the nets because the crabs like it.
All the children would do some activities; they would go looking for crabs
and do a little bit of art work with their chalk. They all drew something
on the stones and the next day it would still be there.
Today, as it’s the last day of the beach we have a singsong and dance. We
all have fun and we are sad it’s time to say goodbye to all and to the
beach for another year. Now for the walk home.
I have great memories of this summer. I love it; we are lucky to live so
close to the beach.
