It was a miserable day, when her plane touched down in Dublin Airport.
Heavy wind and rain welcomed her as she made her way across the
runway to the terminal. Mary spent a couple of hours in Dublin putting
the finishing touches to the Murphy account, before catching a train
to Bray the home town of her Grandmother. Mary was filled with
excitement as train approached Bray, the panoramic view of the sea
and picturesque mountains was sending her heart racing.
It was
shortly after 6pm when she arrived at her hotel on Bray seafront, so
she decided to have dinner and an early night. It had been a very long
day.
Mary awakened the next morning refreshed and excited. Finally the
day had come, the day she had dreamed of as long as she could
remember. She was going to see the place she heard so much about
in stories. After breakfast she got the directions from the hotel
porter for the place, and took off on her journey.
When Mary finally arrived at the address, given to her by her
grandmother, she was heartbroken.
Tears filled her eyes as she
looked at the derelict house, overgrown with brambles where her
grandmother’s home once was. The fields where the sheep and cows
once grazed, now filled, as far as the eye could see, with houses.
