Adam smiled contently to himself , his heart filled with love and joy as he looked upon the picture of his daughter Eva . It was the photo of the first moment they met , but not only that it was the first time in his life he met a blood relative of his own to love unconditionally .
As he lay there on his bunk aboard The USS Tarawa , armed with the knowledge that he was going home again , he thought contently of how his dreams had come true and remembered how it all began .
Growing up he never knew any family as he was abandoned by his parents as a new born . He only knew unhappy foster homes where he never made any real connections with anyone . “ Maybe it was my own fault ,” he thought sometimes , as he never let anyone come close for fear of rejection , but that all changed at age seventeen when his social worker advised him to try a military career . He signed up for the US Navy and to his surprise was accepted .
Adam was sent to train and live at Mayport USS Naval base in Jacksonville Florida , Where he found a family , his Navy family . Although the training was tough going , the discipline , regiments and routine brought out the best in Adam and the comradery amongst his Navy family was something great he ’ d never expected or experienced in his life .
