Exodus 40 Symposium
The South Asian Literature Festival 2012 organised a symposium, entitled 'Exodus 40', on Tuesday 6th November 2012 to mark the 40th anniversary of the expulsion of the Asian community from Uganda and their resettlement in the UK. The panelists (pictured, right) comprised festival co-founder Bhavit Mehta with Kamlesh Madhvani, Yasmin Alibhai Brown, Giles Foden and Tarique Ghaffur, among others.
The South Asian Literature Festival 2012 culminated in a closing panel discussing 'Makings of an Empire: Mark of the Mughals on South Asia' on Friday 9th November at the British Library in London. As the date also marked the opening of the British Library's new 'Mughal India' exhibition, over 900 attendees were treated to a special 'Mughal Nites' party hosted by DJ Ritu and Kuch Kuch entertainment.

Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls MP lit the Diwali lamp at The Labour Party's celebration of the occasion on Monday 12th November 2012 held at their headquarters in Central London. Hosted by Bharat Shah, Managing Director of Sigma Pharmaceuticals and the Shah family, the event welcomed members of the Hindu, Jain and Sikh business community with a mantra sung by His Holiness Gauri Das.
The Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS) seeks to embed Hindu culture in the heart of Oxford with a new fundraising campaign to purchase a property to house its library and to extend its successful scholarship programme. Hosted by Dhruv Patel, Founder of the City Hindus Network, a select group of guests were invited to a private dinner in London on 21st November 2012.
