Directions: Start with clean mason jars. Fill the bottom of the jar with 2 inches of small pebbles or marbles for drainage. Add soil, leaving about an inch from the soil line to the top of the jar. Add the herbs. Choose herbs that will do well with the location. Great herbs for the kitchen include basil, mint, cilantro or rosemary. Water lightly. Use the painter’ s tape to mark off a stencil for the label. Brush on the chalkboard paint. When dry, remove the tape. Label the jar and finish it off by tying a piece of twine or ribbon around the top. Not only will your kitchen smell great, you also will have fresh herbs right at your fingertips!
