Rea's Annual Report Making Waves: 2017 Annual Report | Page 19

In our efforts to support the 2017 hurricane relief efforts while uniting the Rea and Walthall teams in advance of the No- vember 1 merger date, our firms organized Paws-To-Paws – a campaign to raise money for The Humane Society of the United States’ hurricane relief efforts in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and beyond. Paws-To-Paws encouraged Walthall and Rea employees to raise funds while showing off their furry friends. The Rea Foundation matched any funds collected. In addition, employees, cli- ents and friends of the firm were asked to post pictures of their pets to Facebook and Twitter over a two-week period. For every pet picture tagged with “#PawsToPaws,” The Rea Foundation also donated $25 to the campaign. The campaign ultimately raised $5,880. THE REA FOUNDATION Last year, The Rea Foundation support- ed more than 40 nonprofits with gifts to- taling nearly $44,000. From November 2016 through October 2017, the Foundation made dona- tions to Marietta Community Foundation, People-to-Peo- ple Ministries, Medina County Park District, Holmes Coun- ty Share-A-Christmas, Union Hospital Emergency Center, ViaQuest, Blessings in a Backpack, YWCA, Society of St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity, Christ’s Table, Christmas on the Hill, Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center, Dublin Food Pantry, United Way of Lake County, United Way of Tuscarawas County, Holmes County Community Foundation, Animal Shel- ter Society of Zanesville, Lima Memorial Foundation, Musking- um University, Genesis Healthcare Foundation, Wayne Eco- nomic Development Council, Special Olympics, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Ohio University, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Chester Co-Op Preschool, The Cincinnati Oratory, The Humane Society of the United States, St. Peter Catholic Youth Organi- zation. L E G A C Y S C H O L A R SHI P AWA R D E D Rea’s Chris Roush (Millersburg) presents West Holmes High School senior Rebecca Vales with the Marcia Stutzman Scholarship. This scholar- ship is presented annually to a West Holmes graduating senior who plans to major in accounting, finance or business. The scholarship is given in memory of Marcia Stutzman, a 23-year employ- ee and principal with Rea who passed away in 2013 at the age of 43 from Leiomyo- sarcoma. WE AAM TO SERVE Over the summer, the Association for Ac- counting Marketing recognized Walthall CPAs for its ongoing commitment to com- munity service and awarded the firm the “We AAM to Serve” award, which recog- nizes corporate social responsibility. Dedi- cation to community service is just another characteristic shared by both the Walthall and Rea teams. In fact, Rea took home the We AAM to Serve award in 2016. The Walthall team’s philanthropic efforts over the last year included: collecting money and volunteering for the Salvation Army Red Bucket campaign, collecting money and items for the Gathering House, collect- ing money and items for and volunteering at Crossroads Men’s Shelter and collect- ing money and shopping for St. Gabriel Food Pantry. Team members also volun- teered at the Salvation Army’s fresh food giveaways, served dinners at Cornerstone of Hope, and par- ticipated in the Lorain County Heart Walk; the City Mission Walk with a Mission; and the Cleveland Heart Walk and the Alzheimer’s Take Steps Walk, among other activities. continued >>> ASSOCIATES PAWS-TO-PAWS
