How Justin Changed his Life with Real Estate

By Stephanie Mojica

Justin Ford doesn’ t dress up his origin story.“ Between the ages of 17 and 19, I acquired eight misdemeanors and a felony,” he said.“ I got arrested 13 times in two years … I lost my driver’ s license for 10 years.”

After a drunk driving crash nearly took his life, Ford checked himself into a faithbased shelter.“ That’ s where I became Christian, and it changed my life,” he said.“ It’ s not how you start. What matters is how you finish.”
Ford’ s finish has been fast. Introduced to mortgages in 2005, he discovered he was lethal on the phone— first setting refinance appointments, then originating loans— until the 2008 – 09 crash pushed him into short sales and loan modifications. He earned his Michigan real estate license in 2013 and promptly“ sold 100 homes my first year … learned how to prospect, calling expireds and for sale by owners.” The formula stuck.“ Here we are today,” he said. Ask him what actually moves the needle, and the answer is blunt.“ If you don’ t work, you don’ t eat,”
Ford said.“ Mindset is everything.”
As an agent, team leader, and coach, he sees the same pattern derail careers:“ Most people have limiting beliefs and a scarcity mindset … and they’ re not talking to enough people on a daily basis.”
His personal standard is precise:“ I have a goal every day to talk to 25 people about real estate.”
The mechanics are old school by design.
“ I go to my office every day, Monday through Friday, at 8 a. m., and I’ m calling expireds and for sale by owners,” he said.“ I’ m setting appointments every day … That’ s how I’ m on two to three listing appointments every day.”
