Stop Dreaming & Start Changing (A Resurrection Handbook)

Sometimes, we find ourselves fantasizing about lives worlds apart from our own - living on a remote island, in a mansion with heated floors, driving a dreamy sports car – and we continue on with our lives, leaving these ambitions to the world of fantasy.

We stumble through our custom-fitted obstacle course of infinite tasks and errands, keeping ourselves busy from doing the things we “really” want to; replacing creating with dreaming of creating; quietly forgetting our own power.

The truth is, your life is in your own hands. And at any given moment, your whole life can change.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

- Romans 12:2 ESV

Traditionally a season of renewal and rebirth, spring is a great time to clean house – especially of thoughts, words and actions that no longer serve you. In honor of spring, here are five tips to cleanse your soul, rejuvenate your spirit and breathe new life into your goals:

MEDITATE

Meditating literally changes your brain – its structure, neuroplasticity and circuitry – and improves your immune system, memory, and overall well-being. Meditation is also a great way to clear mind clutter and improve decision-making!

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Gratitude has been scientifically proven to increase self-esteem, reducing social comparisons and improving total performance.

REMOVE YOUR SELF FROM HARM

Remove your self from situations that are physically, mentally or emotionally holding you back. Pulling up the weeds in your life – whether they be stagnant ideas, expired interests or harmful relationships – provides fresh space for new seeds to be planted.

WRITE IT DOWN

You may be a little tired, a little distracted, and a lot less productive – and unfulfilled commitments might be the cause. One way to take charge of your life is by writing down a to-do list. Writing things down on paper improves your memory and allows you to prioritize things to do on your list. Writing down daily, short-term and long-term goals is a great way to stay focused on what’s important.

LET IT GO

Release any feelings or beliefs that limit you. When we let go of pain from past mistakes, relationships or experiences, we make room for new opportunities, prioritizing our commitment to ourselves.

This spring, give your self a head start. Don’t just spring clean your house; take some time to clean your mind, body and soul. Pave the way for new beginnings.
